Hello everyone. I'm new to this board.
I'm trying to find the name of a movie that I saw as a young boy. I'm 58 now. Not old for a tree. I just remember the plot.
It was about some school children that hold off a Japanese attack in the Philippines. They also had their teacher with them. I used to love to watch it and would really like to see it again. I'm in a nostalgic period of my life. Can anyone help me identify this film. It is circa 1944-1952.
Thanks much.

Hi hookbill
This sounds vaguely familiar. Was the teacher male or female?
Male, he might have been a priest.
Less sure, now: I was thinking a female teacher. I'll keep thinking.
Hmm so far the closest I can find are a 1964 film called Intramuros (The Walls of Hell); another possibility is Manila Calling (1942)
It wasn't Manila Calling or Intramuros, that one was too new. I think the kids were in an orphanage and the priest was in charge of them. In the end, they ambush a Japanese column to give the Americans time to land.

Perhaps "They Were Expendable" although I haven't seen it for many year so the plot is not entirely in my memory -- there is a priest in the cast however:

They Were Expendable was about PT boats.

PS. I am now offering an award for the correct info, a free picture of me suitable for framing.
Well, well. An award.
Yes, I knew "They Were Expendable" was about PT boats but could no remember if there were any subplots in the land war.
I think we need more information
1. Was the movie in black-and-white?
2. A Hollywood film?
3. Any clue to any actor who may have been in the film?
"Back Door to Hell?"

The problem is that you're saying this a climactic scene so therefore a spoiler which would likely not make it into a plot outline.
It was a black & white flick prior to 1952. Most likely 40's vintage. I have no idea who the actors were. Most where a bunch of Philapino kids.
