School shooting in my old home town

I have been following this for 3 hours, now.

I lived in Marysville, WA a few decades back and my 2 oldest kids graduated from Marysville Pilchuck High School.

http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/marysville-school-shooting/washington-school-shooter-jaylen-fryberg-happy-popular-students-n233506

Disturbing when it hits so close to home. I live only a few miles further away now.

The shooter was the great grand nephew (if that's a correct designation) of a friend of ours. Sad

You mean another individual that had enough with this world's bullshit, so instead of going out with a whimper, they went out with a bang?

Yeah, if you really cared, you would cut the problem from the roots - a.k.a kill idiocy, kill pride, kill secrecy and kill lies. These kids used to be innocent at one time - SOMETHING made them turn and never want to go back to being human. Hint: It's this mass species that judges everyone hypocritically when their comfort isn't on the line, then complaining when their comfort line looks like this: comfor-t. Then all hell breaks loose when their fan breaks during the summer while they give no iota for the people in third world countries!

I think it is safe to say that this will be added to the list of arguments against large High Schools, which have been out of favor for awhile. This district may even be able parley this event into a push for funding to build two new schools to replace this one

@neologist,
I have a gun show to work tomorrow. I expect attendance to increase dramatically as our state ponders 2 gun sale initiatives.

I don't own a gun, BTW.

@hawkeye10,
That's right, large schools are the problem, even though our large schools don't get shot up. Why do you think that is?

@izzythepush,
Well I'm only a women, but could it possibly be that men in Great Britian are not insecure about their ability to reproduce, and can ignore red convertibles and huge automatic weapons and own their own manhood. I just am curious why so many of my superior male citizens believe they need weapons to prove they are red-blooded Americans.

For a long time, I have wanted a vasectomy,
but I never got around to getting one.
I have a decent gun collection, tho.

Never have I met anyone
who has "huge automatic weapons"; too cumbersome & bulky.
Those r "crew-served weapons", not personal, Individual weapons.
I really don t want to own any. I have always favored compact handguns,
preferably with 2 inch barrels; called "snub-nosed" revolvers. Thay r neat.

As a child, I liked n carried a J frame 2 inch .38 revolver. J frame is compact.
A compact revolver is convenient for personal defense everywhere.
In later years, I up-graded to a 2 inch .44 revolver for better STOPPING POWER,
after I heard about the Philippinian Insurrection.

I dunno, but I suspect that the victims in this case
were all docile in obedience to un-Constitutional gun control laws,
so none of them was able to stop him, when he opened up; that's sad.
The penalty for obaying gun control laws is death
by conceding a monopoly of power to evil.

Your question is falsely predicated, Glitterbag.
The purpose of our weapons is to defend our property,
including our personal well-being.

It has never been necessary to prove the color of our blood to anyone,
but in a predatory emergency, it is imperative that we bring MORE POWER
to bear upon the situation than does the predator. Every predatory event is a contest of power.

See the point??

@glitterbag,
It's an attitude that is completely alien over here. After the Dunblane massacre there was a public outcry, and our gun laws were toughened up. Since then we've never had anything like that happen.

It's a bit hard to feel sorry when something like this happens because the solution is so blindingly obvious. It's a bit like living next door to someone who keeps falling in to the massive hole in their front garden, but takes offence when you suggest it might be an idea to fill the hole in.

This will keep happening.

@izzythepush,
With my last breath, with my final foot-ounce of strength, with my every vote,
with my last seconds of life on this Earth, with my last $$bequest$$,
I will strain to obliterate, extirpate & FULLY annihilate
any interference in civilian possession of defensive guns,
tho hopefully none will exist by that time.

There will exist a great deal LESS crime
when the Prohibition on Drugs is ended,
when recidivistic violent criminals are BANISHED
from the North American Continent and when
the citizenry is habitually fully armed
with competent battle tactics taught in the public schools.

@OmSigDAVID,
Or you could do something good, like give your money to the victims of gun crime.

@OmSigDAVID,
You can't make people stateless, most recidivistic violent criminals in North America are from North America. So that, much like your proposals for spelling, won't happen.

More guns means more murders. Just look at the figures, in America 4.7 murders per 100,000 people, in the UK it's 1. The murder rate in America is almost 5 times as much.

Guns don't kill people, people who say 'Guns don't kill people,' kill people, with guns.

How happy are you today, Omsig?

You should be ashamed of yourself Part1.

Part 2 and subsequent parts to follow in due course.

@OmSigDAVID,
I may be wrong, but most mass shootings aren't carried about by recidivist criminals but by people usually not known to police with legally held weapons.

Yes; the idea is to assist them BEFORE
thay have become victims, so that when thay DO,
THAY will prevail by a predominance of defensive power.

I already DID.

@OmSigDAVID,
To assist them you need to get rid of guns. That's the only thing that will assist them. At the moment you're advocating making matters a lot worse.

Can 't is a strong word.
Forgive my skepticism.
I m pretty sure that it woud work,
in terms of their NOT returning here to meet impending doom.
We 'd take their pictures, retinal scans, finger prints, dental impressions
and their DNA before the toxic dump.
We coud even demonstrate what happens
to those who violate the BANISHMENT.
Let them see, up close n personal.

Kids r the future.
Kids r texting MY way. Victory is inevitable.
We need only dump violent recidivists on a few islands
with the proper warnings n say: "goodbye; don t sneak back".

The State of Vermont has NEVER had any gun laws
and its always been very peaceful n quiet.
Fully armed soldiers n Marines do not murder each other.
The police do not lust to murder their fellow-workers.
My ex-girlfriend's son has had a career as a parole officer.
I taught him how to shoot a pistol. He has not murdered anyone.

A lot of that is gang warfare in competition for drug turf.
I bet that thay threw in suicides along with the murders.
In any case, anyone has the FUNDAMENTAL right
to defend himself from the violence of man or beast.
THAT is more basic than the right to vote.

Do u have predatory fauna in England, e.g. big cats or bears ?
packs of dogs ?

OK: I am ashamed that I have not donated more cash and political work
to defeat gun control and to get competent battle tactics
taught in public schools.

Accordingly, these victims were not better armed
in their own defense, as thay shud have been
and as I was in my childhood.

Like we got rid of marijuana n heroin??????
Like we got rid of alcohol in the 1920s??
Like we got rid of cigarettes????

Everyone, including me and all victims of crime,
are defended by the Supreme Law of the Land, in personal defensive gun possession.

As a condition of its EXISTENCE, government was deprived
of jurisdiction qua possession of guns.

That is a defective philosophy; it will not be "worse" if the victims kill the predators.
We can and we shud return to the state of the law up to the early 19OOs.
