@hawkeye10,
NO. I can always awaken.

I love lucid dreams, which I control. The Universe is mine to manipulate.

I am curious how one can dream that they are asleep.

Are you outside of the body and seeing yourself sleeping?

@PUNKEY,
While u sleep,
u become conscious of the fact that u r sleeping.

Then u can rule that universe until u awaken.

Nope, this is a trapped in the sleeping body experience.

I am me, and while I was dreaming I "wake up" enough to know that I am asleep but not enough to actually wake up. Last time around I was actually holding my eyelids open with my fingers(according to the dream) but I could not see anything because I knew that I was asleep. Then I struggle endlessly to wake myself up, always failing till the alarm rings.

The Bizarro thing is that normally in a dream I kinda know that I am dreaming, but when I am dreaming that I am asleep and can not wake up I freak out, because I believe it.

I cant believe that I am the only one.

@hawkeye10,
In 1988, I was in the hospital
straining to awaken from general anesthesia.

After it wore off, the nurses told me thay saw me jerking around
on the bed n thay put an oxygen mask on me. I did not feel it.
I wanted them to know that I was awakening,
so as not to do any cutting.

@hawkeye10,
I have been doing this for a few years, but just two weeks ago I was reading about patients in surgery who wake up enough to know that they are on the operating table but not enough to tell the medical staff that they are part awake. These two experiences are somehow related.

@OmSigDAVID,
exactly, and this has happened fairly often. No one knows why. Nor what to do about it.

@hawkeye10,
I was OK as soon as the chemistry was metabolized.

@hawkeye10,
Yes! And--I would try in my dream to open my eyes and couldn't.

I have gone back to sleep to continue a dream I was enjoying ....and was successful in going back to the same dream. It doesn't always happen though.

@OmSigDAVID,
I don't like gambling myself, but I seem to be pretty lucky. My husband talked me into going to a casino once. At first I resisted and finally gave in. I said fine...but I'm not throwing away but $10.00. I spent $10.00 and won $300.00.

@hawkeye10,
Funny you should ask.

Only happened once, about 3 months ago.

I was dreaming there was an intruder in my house.
I heard a loud crash and tried to wake up but couldn't.
I was terrified.
Finally, when I managed to wake up there was no one there but I heard the ice machine dump a load of cubes and figured out that's what I had heard.

I'll never ever ever forget that terror.

@panzade,
I have had dreams in which I needed to move but was frozen to the spot. I believe I was always in bed. I was in imminent danger, but for the whole of my memory of the dream, I struggled to move and could not.

Ye gads. Couple of nights ago I took some cold medicine. My dreams were about small furry things running around the floor and a kitten born out of a dead cat. Ick. Not pleasant at all.

The medicine was coricidin cold and cough HBP (for people with high blood pressure) I understand that the dextromethorphan (cough suppressent) can have side effects.
