Can someone please advise which of the following is correct and why?
Thanks.

"Too much training is EFFECTING our performance says Captain"

OR

"Too much training is AFFECTING our performance says Captain"

Effect is a noun

Affect is a verb

The phrase should read: "Too much training is AFFECTING our performance," says the Captain.

I would also say that one should write: ". . . the Captain."
