Worried... Needing Distraction While I Wait to Hear.

Wasn't sure where to put this.

Dad is in surgery right now. Found out late April he has prostrate cancer. PSA came back as a 56 and Gleason at 9. Surgery now to see if lymph nodes are involved and if so, how much. If too bad, they will just close him up. If not, will be doing radical prostectomy while they are there. Sad

Just waiting half way across the country to hear something... Needing some distraction.

Squinney--

Love at long distance is very difficult. Objectively it doesn't matter whether you're sweating it out in the surgical waiting room or in your living room halfway across the country, but subjectively you feel much more helpless halfway across the country.

You are in my thoughts.

Yikes! I remember that feeling Squinney, my dad went through it a couple years ago. It all happened so fast, but surgery day was looooong. I even tried to give blood while I waited....

When caught early (and, if I remember my numbers, his sounds like it was), it is so treatable! Good vibes going to your dad..... and you.

Keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out well for your dad, Squinney. It sure is hard watching your parents get older, isn't it?

Wow! I knew you all would come through for me. You're all the best!!

Finally got a call around 5:30 pm. It is in the lymph nodes already, so they closed him up and didn't do anything. My step mom said they are going to try estrogen therapy to shrink the prostrate, (currently the size of a tennis ball) but I'm not sure if that slows the growth that is already lymphatic. Waiting to hear from my sister, who is a resp. therapist, with more medical explanation of what is happening and the general outlook.

Yes, it IS scary watching them age. Sixty three use to be OLD, but once I turned 40, it didn't appear to be so old afterall!! Funny how that happens.

Thank you, again to everyone. If you have any info or experience with this, please share.
