I just saw the movie "The Missing" with Tommy Lee Jones and it had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I didn't catch in the credits though if it was adapted from someone's novel such as something by Cormac McCarthy like "All the Pretty Horses" or "Blood Meridian".

imdb claims 'the missing' was based on a novel by thomas edison called 'The Last Ride'. The screenplay was by ken kaufman.
