The doctor was applying pressure to the wound to stop the flow of blood.
I have to make this sentence passive, so. My answer is:
The flow of blood was stopped by applying pressure to the wound .
Can this one be right ? The answer from my book is :pressure was being applied to the wound to stop the flow of blood .
So. Both 2 should be correct. Ur opinion?

@Arafat ,

You have got the meaning all right, but I think both are wrong.
To make a sentence passive, you should put all the elements in. Neither answer mentions the doctor.

So my answer would be:
To stop the flow of blood, pressure was applied to the wound by the doctor.

@McTag,

Or even: So that the flow of blood could be stopped, pressure was applied to the wound by the doctor.

I'm no expert but it seems to me that the original sentence was in the indicative past tense continuous: was applying pressure.

So the passive form would be: pressure was being applied.

Then, the whole sentence should read:

-To stop the flow of blood, pressure was being applied to the wound by the doctor.

Maybe...

(Mind if the narrator was Master Yoda, it would be: by the doctor on the wound, to stop the flow of blood, pressure being applied was).
