I just received a notice of a Private Message, but when I went to my box, there was nothing new there. I will contact the sender (I think I know sho it is), but wondered if there was a problem that the powers-that-be should know about.
I don't know that this is the case, but I do know that people can delete pm's they've sent - if they catch them before you open them.
Another thought. I received a pm from a new member I wasn't familiar with, earlier this evening, inviting me to join another discussion forum. That pm isn't in my inbox anymore. Perhaps the moderators were able to catch some spam and delete it?

I too received n email like that...I also received onre saying I had been added to some special user group, but when I opened the link for the info received a message that I was not authorized to view it because I wasn't a member.

Well! I didn't know PMs could be spammed. And this was from a forum one of whose members does send me PMs. Did the rest of you get PMs from someone in a forum you belong to?
Anyway, I'm grateful to the moderators who caught this in time.
Not me. Maybe there was a spamlike message that had been deleted before I got there.
Hmmm - I get notices of PMs not infrequently which are not there when I log in - I have always assumed they are spam.
Tomkitten - sometimes people try to spam the membership by sending PMs.
I wonder if I may get more than you because my name is higher in the alphabet, or something?
The person who sent the spam was a newbie, who had never posted on the forums. All he has to do, once he is registered, is to surf around to threads that are relevent to his site, and PM the people who are involved that those threads.
