In a course outline, at the end there are many book names showing the things students have to read; should I use READING this way?:

-When I consider those things as a whole, I use READING; when I consider them as separate things, I use READINGS; and it is up to me whether I want to use the singular or plural form.

Is my theory right?

@WBYeats,
Can I say this?:

-Reading is a very effective way of learning English. Through reading, we learn a lot of vocabularies.

Does the plural form of VOCABULARY make sense?
