Hi English teachers,
may I ask if it is grammatical to say that I am rushing to complete an assignment? Thanks a lot for your guidance in advance.

Yes, it's common way to express a verb when it is not the active verb.

I am trying to understand your objections.

Bill was hoping to arrive in time for the wedding ceremony.

We all sought to dissuade Mary from signing the contract.

Yeah, i understand. Fortunately, people have been speaking English to me for more than 60 years, so some it has sunk in.
