Suddenly my microsoft word program has become unable to have the UNDO function. Formerly the arrow indicating the function was blue, which I could click, but now it is always grey; in other words, if I had typed a million words and accidentally pressed Ctrl+A+DELETE, every thing would be gone, which is unthinkable. What should I do to get back the UNDO function?

@contrex,
It is so in all documents created using Word, but not in Powerpoint, Notebook etc, but there are other functions that only Word can perform.

@contrex,
um...whenever I click on it, a square-like thing pops up and says it is 2010 WORD, apart from this I don't know...

Are these documents you created yourself, or did you get them from another person?

@contrex,
um...I created them myself, and I've never tried to tamper with any of the settings.

Go in Tools - Options and check that Undo Levels is set to some number greater than zero.

I think you click the File Tab in the upper left corner.

Learn where menu and toolbar commands are in Office 2010 and related products

@WBYeats,
That's really a good q, WB, and while we're at it, I wonder if anyone knows a way to easily default the entire contents of one's System Preferences

For instance with an inadvertent keystroke all went from black letters on white background to white on black, was that way for 2 weeks until my sons steered me to Universal Access

How would one ever guess that it would be found under that heading
