Five stacks of bricks are to be used to create a path. They are 9 bricks high, 9 bricks wide, and 4 bricks deep. One brick will cover 32 square inches. The path is to be 4 feet wide. Calculate length (in feet) of the path.
All but one dozen bricks are used.

Thank you.

@Randy Dandy,
Count the bricks in the pile. (9*9*4 bricks)

How many inches is 4 ft (hint 12 inches in a foot) so 1 foot of walk would have an area of 4*12*12 in^2

Divide this by 32 in^2 a brick

so 1 foot of walk takes 4*12*12 (in^2)/32 (in^2) bricks

So the number of feet of walk you can lay is the number of bricks you have divided by the number of bricks required per foot.

For beginning math students I recommend reading Poyla's wonderful book "How to Solve It". Ask your teacher where to get a copy, but here is a link to the rules.
