Is anybody else totally in love with Legally Blonde 1 & 2. I think they should bring out Legally Blonde 3.

Hmm....I liked Legally Blonde 1, but honestly thought the sequel was pretty lame.

Yeah, I'm not sure they could stretch it out into a #3...unless the writing was really really good.

My daughter (who is blonde) and I have watched Legally Blonde at least ten times together over the years -- we think it is hilarious. I expected to hate it the first time around, so it was a pleasant surprise. Haven't seen Legally Blonde 2. Sorry to hear it isn't so good, but sequels rarely are.

For my daughter's birthday I bought her a fluffy pink pen...

That pen always seemed like it was about to be airborne. Watch out for unexpected gusts of wind.

I thought both were among the worst movies of all time. Someone said that it was supposed to be about a "smart" blonde but if so the bar is very very very very low.

This is a chick flick as much as it is a comedy -- the courtroom scenes are entirely silly but the first movie does have it's charms. It's suppose to be the antithesis of the dumb blonde syndrome and on close examination it fails. It's only garnered a 6.5 rating on the IMDb rating scale based on member's votes which is just slightly better than average. However, I can think of over a thousand movies that are worse than this one.

Because as the anti-thesis to the dumb blone stereotype they offered up an insipid and idiotic blond character.

She did begin the film as insipid and idiotic but that was the hook as she turned the tables on the prosecution. I found that too difficult to swallow -- the transformation was strictly for comedic value and wasn't credible. But are comedies always credible? Probalby not any more than action adventure flicks. I don't see men appreciating the film as much as the females from 12 to 25. And that's the target audience (duh!) I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it as romantic comedy fluff but it's a forgettable movie and simply not in the top 100 comedies of all time.

I would agree with you there, LW, but the first one was at least decent fluff with no substance. The second one was just annoying beyond belief.

I found the first one entertaining mostly because I'm planning on studying law next year, though I must say it isn't the most accurate portrayal of law school. Smile

I'd love to see a list of the top 100 Comedies of all time.

The first time I saw Legally Blonde I really hated the first part (I'm not a fan of Reese Witherspoon) but it definitely improves after the first 1/2 hour... about the time she sends her video to Harvard. Anyway, I'm happy to hang with my daughter whenever she's willing. We watched it last Christmas season and laughed ourselves silly.

Wow! Thanks, LightWizard. That's a keeper! I don't recognize many of the older ones... it would be interesting to see how well we think they aged.

The one I can remember showing at a movie party in the 70's and had everyone rolling on the floor was "What's Up Doc?" Everytime the valeses got mixed up, we all lost it. I can stil envision Madelein Kahn being dragged by her heels out of the ballroom. Then there that chase through the streets on the vendor's cart which is classic silent movie slapstick with Streisand and O'Neal racing through a parade dragging the paper dragon with them and the bit with the sheet of glass being carried across the street was hysterical. One of the classic comedies I can watch more than once.

Ditto "Harold and Maude" and pretty much the whole list.

"Legally Blonde" is what I call a soft comedy. It has a charming story and some laughs here and there but it's shaky as to becoming a classic.
