An update: We have been using the Opera browser for about ten days now. I find it much superior to Chrome. Google has become the kind of bullying monster that Microsoft was in the 1990s.

i've read Lifehacker and How2geek for this same reasons that you have because I got a 3 year old laptop and they are mostly saying that Chrome is still not up to par with Firefox efficiency.

I mean chrome EATS all your ram, so unless you have 4GB on a 32 bit or 8GB on a 64 bit system you will literally crawl when using chrome.

I've never had any problems with Chrome. Be it from lag or the plug-ins.

I never get any problems whren using chrome. I mostly use Mozilla Firefox browser. try installing google chrome again. It might fix the problem.
