In a sentence like: "now the attention and the emphasis [GO or GOES] to the distribution" which should I use?
Thanks

@bravebear,
Bear that's really a good q. Suppose for instance that the context entails a discussion concentrating on these two factors among others that go ignored; in which case I'd use the singular

@bravebear,
I say 'go' because you have two things you're talking about - attention and emphasis, so I'd make the verb agree with the plural. He and she go to the store; she goes to the store.

The article, "the" changes each of the subjects. I vote with "goes'

The cream and the spice makes for a better pie. (Each one)

The cream and spices make for a better pie. (They)
