Isn't all human beings the same?

I really don't understand why its still there a difference and discrimination between people on the basis of cast, culture, religion and so on. Why can't people respect each other despite the difference in cast, religion, social status.. and live in peace and harmony.

It's because human beings evolved from primates which tend to form and recognize groups which are most like them. We are biologically programmed to categorize individuals into groups and to prefer our own group over others. This instinct can be superseded by intellect and self-discipline or wide exposure at a young age, but unless overcome, the default perspective is the instinctive one.
