Are you sure on Autry? As P and L noted, Armstrong did an early version, I"m sure in the forties.

dylexia, as usual, is right. Clapton was even there that night in Toronto when Ms. Ono did her thirty minute (or whatever it was) angst-wail....jesus, I'm glad I wasn't.

Hi dyslexia -- Don & Dewey were Don Harris and Dewey Terry, who started out in a harmonizing group called The Squires in Pasadena in the 50's.....

copied this from a website......

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

In late 1957 Don Harris and Dewey Terry formed a duo fronting an R & B combo and made some great rocking music as Don & Dewey for a couple of years for Specialty Records. In the early sixties they became part of the backup band for Little Richard. They kept their hand in the modern rock era as a duo and as part of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Don "Sugarcane" Harris was even a member of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention for a time. He went back to his R & B roots when he toured with Johnny Otis in the early seventies. (Don & Dewey can be heard on a great Specialty CD entitled "Jungle Hop"). And to think - it all started with a great little vocal group called The Squires !

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Is that the correct answer?????

The album, "Marrying Maiden", was one of my all-time favorite albums. In fact, I may still have my vinyl copy in a box somewhere.....

New Question.......

Which of the Everly Brothers is older?

Very Happy

The literature describing my Gene Autry collection stated that his BLUEBERRY HILL is the original one. I have heard Louis Armstrong's very fine version of it, but it was at least second, according to whoever wrote the copy.

P & L , i knew Dewey Terry pretty well in the early 70's and through him got to meet Mayal along with Shuggie Otis and of course Don (sugarcane) Harris when they were all touring the USA. and when Dewey won the emmy for his Big Chief album cover we did a bit of celebrating at the old Oxford Hotel in Denver.

ahhh.... what a great job!! The local station (out of Seattle) has a small recording studio and they invite whoever is in town at the moment, to come to the studio for a cozy acoustic session. Then, they put all the best recordings onto a CD each year. "On The Mountain 7" was this year's release. The proceeds from the sale of the CD's goes to The Wilderness Society.

drums?

I have not listened to this group, but, from my research, the lack of drums was not an all the time feature (or lack of one), if I understand correctly.

New Question: Here's an easy one:
Which musician was fired from the band by Little Richard for being "too pretty?"
