WHAT NUMBER WHEN SUBTRACTED BY ONE (1) GIVES YOU A BIGGER NUMBER?

Ex. -3 -1 = (-4)

Subtracted by ONE (1), not NEGATIVE 1

Is this a play on the word bigger, or can the question be restated like this:
Find x such that x-1 > x.

Or is it a play on the word subtracted, and removing the I (1) from IV (4) yields V (5)?

Thats roman numerals are a great answer!

But... there IS a number that when subtracted by one gives you a bigger number...

"negative twenty one" minus (the word) "one" is "negative twenty"
