This is not my music but music by The Who from their rock opera Tommy that I edited to the movie Avatar...

It was banned worldwide the day I put it up on Youtube. So no one was able to view it till now (over a year later). Youtube is great for most videos but some just don't make it live. Vimeo has kindly allowed it to be hosted...

It took me at least two days editing to make this video. Hope you like it With these movie/song mashups it is a hit or miss undertaking.

I wrote this song after a friend sent me a video of a German castle...

I think several dreamscapes were involved in the making. One that I hold most dear.... It took me several days straight to collect and edit all the photos...

Just got back from playing my guitar on the streets. The people were very nice even the ants on the sidewalk tipped me. Hehe Someone tipped me a two dollar bill. It was the bill I am sure he had been hanging onto for a special occasion. A family stopped just up the sidewalk but in earshot from me and while I was singing, "Sunshine on my Shoulders" the father started crying. I almost lost it myself... "I'd give to you a day just like today." People are so beautiful, they always give me a reason to keep going with my music.

Hello A2K peeps!

RexRed here,

This is a newsletter on what is going on in my music currently.

I am still working on my latest song called "Rocket". It has taken a considerable amount of time to make. I arranged some complex music tracks, then I sung about 10 vocal tracks along side of each other but they were 14 minutes in duration! Still the song sounded cool with all ten vocals playing at the same time. I knew I had to thin down the vocals and edit each syllable. That is, each syllable for ten, 14 minute tracks. The song is like an odyssey, maddening at times. (hehe)

Then I asked Larry Weddleton to contribute about five, 14 minute guitar tracks. Yes, 14 minutes! It took us nearly 5 hours to record.

Larry Weddleton played the electric guitar leads, the electric guitar rhythm tracks and the spanish guitar rhythm and lead tracks while I ran the recording gear. His recording session was awesome!

I have currently edited my vocals, thinned them out, fixed the syllables and edited the pitch/timing of them where needed.

Now it sounds slightly empty in some places so I have to now go in and re-sing some ad-lib lines, maybe today, to add some "calculated" vocal fill..

I also have to focus more on the main vocal (which is possibly lost at some points) as opposed to all of the other vocals that are splayed across the sound field. Bring the main vocal a bit more presence (maybe). It took me a few days to even perceive which of my ten vocals was the main vocal.

I have edited/mixed the guitar tracks that Larry played and I think I have them in place where they belong. I have to really listen to each of them and make a few more slight edits. 14 minutes X5 of incredible guitar playing! I found Larry's intro, his guitar lead and set them in place. I may have a tiny bit more to do in that area. I still need to figure out how the spanish guitar parts fit in the softer sections of the song's end.

So it is really my final vocals that are needed in the song now. Then I will make an exhaustive mix and mastering. I am wondering how record stores and radio will respond to a 15 minute song these days (i need to research that). It will probably be around 15 minutes or just under.

I may also mix down a shorter version. But the shorter version will not have a lot of the parts the full version has. 14 minutes of ten tracks of song lyrics too.

Last night I found an awesome arpeggio for the song. So that fits in nicely and gives it a spaceship kind of feel in spots. Well I just thought I would give A2K fans an idea of what I am working on now. I will be waiting till the song is completely finished before releasing it in any form. This got me thinking...

What would I do if I was actually rich? How much would it take to satisfy my need for money and material things?

Well I would like to travel but I am not sure I would want to travel.

Maybe occasionally but with the internet I seem able to travel, at least virtually, to places and see what is out there.

I can also meet people virtually.

I think I would like to move out of my city apartment and into a place where I can sing and no neighbors can hear me. Consequently I try to sing and write quiet songs so I do not bother them that much when I record my original music. (I know they still hear me)

That kind of apartment/house I need probably would cost more to live than where I live now, it is a bit more specialized.

I would like to have a small low end compact car where I could fit my PA speakers in and do some local gigs.

I would like to have 4 or 5 networked i7 computers and software from Cakewalk, Windows and Adobe... a few others.

A few large screen monitors and some inexpensive green screen lighting.

A rough guess what that would all cost?

Maybe under 15,000 dollars. (The car could even be used second hand)

Then I think to myself what else do I need? THAT'S IT!

If I had all of those things I would really not need much else. I don't have expensive habits, I don't frequent luxury places. I have no desire to own non practical things like a very luxury automobile or home. I am perfectly happy with just having my art studio space and doing gigs occasionally.

Just a large room for my computers a modest bedroom and enough room for another person to occasionally maybe stay and share my accommodations with me.

I neither desire luxury nor do I require it.

I think it to be; "practicality versus decadence".

I consider to myself often, "How much am I going to use something that I buy?"

Well where am I going with all of this?

What really burns in my heart are others in my life... My family, friends, ex lovers and their individual situations.

This is where I could spend millions to maybe help their lives out where they have the greatest need, so they too can move forward...

So if I had millions, 99.9% of it would go to help others... If I started a business or had someone start one for me, it would be for the sole purpose to facilitate more profits so I could help even more people.

Someday maybe fortune will smile on us all...
