Hi
I manage to catch this with my camera. I'm very curious to know what it is and how this insect manages to create this blinking light.

It's a Firefly or Lightning Bug. During the summer they are pretty common in some areas. Although they are becoming less common due to loss of habitat.

Apparently in some habitats they've become so rare that the o.p. had no idea what this once quite common flyer was. They used to be all over the landscape in the summers of my youth. As kids, we'd try to catch hem live and deposit them into a transparent jar to use as a kind of natural torch, i.e. flashlight.

I grew up in rural New Jersey and I remember open fields on warm nights flooded with waves of fireflies. Etherial and spectacular.
