How often do you get a Physical Exam? Is it a full blown exam or partial?

I have one every year if I need it or not - in order to keep and maintain my Commercial Driving License - must get an annual physical.

I also get the annual breast xRay and colonoscopy.

I get one every year when I remember. My doc's office isn't so good about reminders and they really cut corners, I think. I am in an age-group where broad testing isn't across the board.

Every year but, like littlek, I don't get good reminders. It's usually at around June that I suddenly remember ....

Plus a mammogram.

Never. I only go the doctor when something is wrong. Yes I know that is not preventative - my choice.

I think that each year, a patient should have the fundamentals evaluated.

If you've not had a colon problem, a colonoscopy every 5 years should be sufficient.

At age 40 years, each woman should have a mammogram/2years. At age 50+, the mammogram should be every year.

Sexually active woman should have a pap each year. Inactive women should also have a pap every 2 years, if family or medical history dictates.

Males should be sure to have their PSAs measured starting in their 40s or even earlier, if family history dictates.

Re; Physicals:

I get one evey year -- 34 female.

I have had 2 pregnacies.

On my last pap time -- The doctor couldn't do the examine.
so I am going to my obgyn - as I get the deprovra from her.

what could be a reason for being unable to have the pap done?

They even had trouble doing blood work that day -- In the clinic next store.

Any thoughts.

thanks in advance.

In the USA, there are special reagents for tissue preparation prior to the cytology. Maybe your clinic just ran out of the necessary reagents. Confused

I knew there was a reason I liked the bunny! Very Happy

If I feel fine going into someone's office I'd prefer to feel the same way when I walk out.

I spend too much time with my kids at the doctors to willfully go for myself. It's been years since I've seen the doctor for me. But I'm on first name basis with my doctor, and when I go into the office for any little thing (fax requests for perscriptions, that kind of thing) she always makes time to say hi. And I've never seen her as a patient.

As a person ages, it's probably best ( at age 40+) to monitor your health and try to stay on top of things. In other words, if you're a woman, don't ignore the PAP or even the mammogram and if you're a man, start the PSA tests so that a baseline can be established.

What's shocking to read, is how many women actually develope breast cancer in their 20s and 30s, and never seek medical treatment until the disease is advanced. Cool
