G.O.P. Offers Weak, feeble Candidates, Since Reagan

I never thawt much of the Bushes.

When I saw Bob Dole at a rally,
I was shocked at how enfeebled,
frail and delicate in old age he had become.
Effectively, Clinton was un-opposed.
(Tho, in fairness: Ross Perot split the conservative vote.)

McCain was weak; I thawt he was mentally infirm
(tho better than Obama).

Romney was not that conspicuously bad,
tho he is essentially a RINO.

Obama had stronger charisma than Romney.

is there any chance that the repubs could re-animate the corpse of Ronnie Reagan

and maybe make some special dispensation for the reanimated corpse of Margaret thatcher to run as his VP

@OmSigDAVID,
The GOP candidates have become puppets of the extreme right think tanks (ie: Carl Rove) and Big Business lobbyists. Candidates are picked because they can be controlled and manipulated. They don't want people with brains, they want people who will do as they are told. Cheney was picked to pull the stings on Bush and Palin was picked to balance any good intentions McCain might have. Romney came about because the GOP political machine started eating its own and the in-fighting created too many agendas without a solid focus.

@OmSigDAVID,
I think you're right. Watching the candidates for the nomination drop out, one by one, there was never a time when I said something like "Oh, darn". There were a couple I was glad to see go, but none I really liked for anything other than not being Obama.

@Green Witch,
Being a GOP candidate means that you buy the entire bag of beliefs , worldviews, and Rovian Assertions. The party has grown OLD, WHITE, INTRACTIBLE an FEEBLE.

You still use the obsolete bullshit term "RINO". The latest term for the reemergence of the Fically conservative but socially moderate republicans are "COSMOPOLITAN CONSERVATIVES"

Get with it Dave, or youre just another white dinosaur.

@OmSigDAVID,
I liked Bush senior. He was the last of the Republican Presidents who was willing to meet someone half way. I was also OK with Dole, a senator very well respected on both sides of the aisle. I also find your comments about his war injuries mildly offensive. I guess if he'd dodged war service like Clinton, Bush junior and Romney he'd have escaped uninjured and have been more to your liking.

Reagan chose him
to balance off Reagan's own conservatism.

I see that like saying:
"my favorite surgeon keeps one of his hands clean on-the-job."

He was very, very well liked.
He was intelligent, but when he spoke he was ofen un-intelligible,
including maybe 5 incomplete thoughts in one sentence.
He was never challenged on that because he was so well beloved,
un-like W, whose choices of words were continually challenged.
That was regardless of the fact that W
expressed himself much more clearly than Dole.

I had completely forgotten
about the injury to his hand; WWII, if I remember accurately?
To which "comments" do u refer ??
