Um, for people who haven't noticed, it appears that there are now static pages for every a2k topic & forum! You're not using Links SQL in some form for that are you, Craven?

Monger, will you put that in layman language for those of us who need an interpreter?

The only difference you will notice is that URLs now look like
Code:able2know.com/forums/a2k-post581503.html
instead of
Code:able2know.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=581503

One thing you might notice in the future as a result of this is a2k turning up in search engine results more frequently, as search engines typically prefer static html pages over dynamic database-generated pages. Thing is, I suspect there isn't really any static content at all, but that it's just being simulated somehow (Craven will have to clarify this though).

(There's a reason I posted this in the web development forum. Wink)

Thanks, monger. All has become crystalline. I make it a practice to view and reply to unanswered posts regardless of the category.

Nope, mainly just Apache's mod_rewrite and somereplace php code.

The PHP code replaces certain urls's with the static ones. It's really making urls to files that don't exist.

Then the mod-rewrite rules take variables from the static urls and pass them to the real dynamic urls.

LinksSQL actually generates the static pages, this is just mod_rewrite (which is, IMO, the most useful thing thing I know in web development).
