@Jessythomas,
Web design is about how to make your website looks good artistically.
Web development focuses more on developing functuions for your site to better improve user experience. Based on my experience, web development usually costs much more than web design and requires more logical thinking process to make sure all functions on your site can be integrated properly.

What kind of website are you willing to create?

@Jessythomas,
A web developer focuses on how a site works and how the customers get things done on it.A web designer is concerned with how a site looks and how the customers interact with it.

@Jessythomas,
The Difference between web design and website development is as follows:
-In web designing you mainly focus on the site layout, colors, font, and the visual elements of the website like menu, panel etc. It mainly focuses on what will be the whole look of the website.

-In web development you concentrate on coding and back end features like database connectivity.

@Alison Wood,
Web design is the customer-facing part of the website. A web designer is concerned with how a site looks and how the customers interact with it. Good web designers know how to put together the principles of design to create a site that looks great. They also understand about usability and how to create a site that customers want to navigate around in because it’s so easy to do.

Web development is the back-end of the website, the programming and interactions on the pages. A web developer focuses on how a site works and how the customers get things done on it. Good web developers know how to program CGI and scripts like PHP. They understand about how web forms work and can keep a site running effectively.

@Jessythomas,
Web design simply means that to make website good looking & user friendly. While on other hand web development signifies working of a site i.e. if any of your visitor clicks on contact us page then it should redirect on that page without any error.

@Jessythomas,
Web development is typically used to described the programming required to construct the "back end" of a website. The back end is the area of the site that isn't seen by visitors,
web design is the front end the page your visitors will see with all the shiny whistles and bells, dynamic menus, flash banners

@Jessythomas,
Web Designers are of the creative type. They have a knack for getting inside of their clients’ heads and realizing their clients’ vision. They take this vision and masterfully convert it into an aesthetically pleasing, artistic design that aims to impress millions of potential viewers. Some designers study typography, user interface design, and usability.

Web Developers are usually more technical in nature. They tend to have excellent problem solving skills and are generally good at math. On a daily basis, a developer will write code in five or more different languages including (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript, [PHP, ASP, ColdFusion, Ruby, Python, Perl, etc.], and some flavor of SQL.

@Jessythomas,
Web Designing is concerned with how the website looks, its general appearance and the branding of the website. A web designer works on the exterior features of the website to make customers navigate around in easily. Web development on the other hand is concerned with the programming of the website. It is the back-end of the website.
