Not good for re-election chances if members of your party are ducking your re-coronation.
I remember when Jimmy Carter was campaigning for re-election.
He had a huge audience in a huge hall in Chicago.
He gave his speech. His audience got bored with him,
and very large numbers of them walked out on him during the speech,
which was televised, showing vast amounts of empty seats
in that arena, that had been full at the beginning of his speech.
