Common sayings have been used for -- who knows how long, are so familiar we only need to hear the first part to recognize them. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush, for example, can still be recognized by just saying a Bird in hand is worth... Here are more examples...

A stitch in time saves...

A chain is as strong as its weakest...

The road to hell is paved with good...

A fool and his money are soon...

A friend in need is a friend...

A man is known by the company he...

A penny saved is a penny...

A picture is worth a thousand...

I'm sure there are more but I can't remember them.

You always have it in your power to admit that you are powerless Ashleigh Brilliant

@Rickoshay75,
A man is known by the company he...keeps

These are mostly from Poor Richard's Almanac aren't they?
[I almost said Little Richard's Alamanac]

Assuming you are not from my generation when aphorisms and metaphors were all the intelligence we had, that's pretty good.

As for a thousand words, no amount of words can accurately describe anything you can see

A stitch in time saves... nine

A chain is as strong as its weakest...

The road to hell is paved with good...

A fool and his money are soon... parted

A friend in need is a friend... indeed

A man is known by the company he... keeps

A penny saved is a penny...

A picture is worth a thousand...

I have to admit that my answers and spelling were done on purpose.

if i read the original post correctly, he wasn't looking for answers, he was looking for other examples of sayings that don't need to be completed because everyone knows them so well

as in, everyone knows that if you say a fool and his money, you don't need to complete the statement, everyone knows what you mean

by the by, we said a fool and his money is some party
