Disappearing toolbar in Word 2010

Suddenly my Word 2010 tool bar disappears while I am writing. If I'm writing anything that requires me to click on Home - for font changes. etc - the tool bar reappears but I can't write anything. Can anyone tell me how to get my tool bar permanently back in place aand then how to type anything that shows up on the screen?

HP Pavilion Slimline, Word 2010, Windows 7.
