If a tank takes two hours to fill and three hours to empty, how long would it take for the tank to overflow when both outlets are open.

so t=6
Six Hours
If the tank volume is 6 gallons, the flow rates are -- in 3 gal/he. out 2 gal/hr.

Of course not, but the best way to get a student to think for himself is to avoid algebra. We try not to do homework here.
