One thing I have noticed about this site, there seems to be quite a few very smart and kind people, of course like other sites you get the strange ones as well Laughing

I was listening to the radio this morning, there was an article about the aid the UK gives to Pakistan, and attempts to link it to women's rights, which quite frankly are appalling. Beatings and disfigurements are commonplace, and the police rarely investigate such incidents, regarding them as family matters. They highlighted a 16 year old who was dragged out of bed by her husband who then cut off her nose and lips. He is now on the run, but chances are he will never be caught and brought to justice.

The Koran may have improved the treatment of women when it was first written, but the sentiments expressed by the speaker are now clearly well past their use by date. The reality is that Islam is used to subjugate women far more than it's used to give them basic human rights.

@izzythepush,

My dear brother
You are absolutely right and the words are true
But
This cultural problem, not an Islamic

Islam is innocent of that
Problem is bad in the way for the application of the methodology and the teachings of Islam, the merciful

You know,
Human world and the learner and the high morality differs completely ignorant

Indeed, in the Holy Qur'an and the Hadith

This proves the sincerity of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him

He speaks to the need for women's choice of the husband-good- Saleh - the ethics of high
So he can the leadership of the family easily
The woman put her love and confidence in him
* The Prophet peace be upon him: "If there comes one whose religious commitment and character you are pleased, however you do not do sedition in the land and great corruption," they said, O Messenger of God, although he said: "If there comes one whose religious commitment and character you are pleased but do not sedition in the land and great corruption. "said three times

Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "All of you are guardians and are responsible for your subjects. The ruler is a guardian of his subjects, the man is a guardian of his family, the woman is a guardian and is responsible for her husbands house and his offspring; and so all of you are guardians and are responsible for your subjects."[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Commentary:
This Hadith ordains every individual in society, whether he is a ruler or ruled citizen or even a woman who leads her life within the four walls of her house, to perform his duties within his own sphere. Not only that, every person has been made responsible to reform the state of affairs in his control and establish equity and justice because he will be held accountable for any negligence on his part in this respect.

@frnando,
I'm not particularly attacking Islam, but it tends to be Islamic countries where women seem to have the least rights. For example, in Saudi Arabia, home to both Medina and Mecca women are not even allowed to drive. That is why many people find it a bit rich when an Islamic scholar appears to lecture us on how wives should be treated by their husbands.

@frnando,
frando. If this attitude from the Islamic community continues, i.e. the desire to have sharia states all over the world, we will be facing the end of mankind because western men and women will not not put up with it. In the end if the islamic community tries to coerce or force Sharia on western cultures, then mankind could very well face extinction. You have the right to your religion, but what you don't have the right to do is force it upon other people who already have their religion or choose not to have one. When the muslim people of this planet learn that small concept, mankind will be a happier race of people. No man has the right to strike a woman if only for the very reason he is by the very nature of his biology, stronger than the female. More importantly, because violence is disrespectful whether it be between a man and a man, a woman and a woman or a man and a woman. Nuff said.
