Sorry they would need to get a hand on a can of soda you drink from or a envelope or stamp you used you tongue on etc.

It would take them some manpower following you around to get that sample especially if you had been put of notice and taken a few steps to stop them from using your garbage etc as a source for that DNA.

Yup. But they don't need a search warrant if you discard the can, or mail the stamp.

The oldest known DNA match in England was from human bones found in the area of Cheddar gorge caves who were traced to a local schoolboy.

The bones were from 9000 years ago.

400 years doesn't sound like such a long shot
