Hey, narlee. Welcome to A2K. So far we have established that Three Dog Night sang it, and Hoyt Axton wrote it.

The Fifth Dimension single combined the two songs into one.
I am very sure it was 3 dog night. My father used to play all their songs in a band!

Joy to the world!
3 dog night is a very good band and Joy to the world was one of their best songs! But if you get the chance, check out some of their other tunes, I think you might enjoy them!

Just for the record (?), the Fifth Dimension released "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In", which went to #1 and is still the biggest medley hit of all time. Only trouble is, the title is wrong. In the musical, the song was titled "The Flesh Failures", rather than "Let the Sunshine In". Also, in a related topic, it could be noted that Hoyt Axton's mother co-wrote "Heartbreak Hotel", making them the only mother/son combination to ever compose #1 songs. Have a Happy New Year!
