@kethlin,
Leather is easy to care for. Just use a conditioner every 6-12 months and wipe up spills as they occur with a clean cloth. Avoid using normal cleaning supplies -- like soaps, detergents, solvents, etc.

Ultraviolet (UV) light is particularly harmful and causes irreversible damage. The light and increased temperature accelerates the degradation of finishes and colorants. Damage, in severe cases, can only be restored after stripping and refinishing. This loss of “patina” can greatly affect the value of your furniture, particularly if it is an antique. Furniture should be moved out of the direct sunlight. Blinds and curtains are helpful in diffusing the intensity of sunlight, but museum grade window film is the best. There are window films available today that are clear and provide 99.9% protection from harmful UV rays, as well as significantly reducing temperature levels in the home.

@kethlin,
The methods you list are really useful for the maintenance of the antique furniture and I would like to add that you must need a plastic or other wood base to make your antique furniture stand on it. This will keep it away from the termite action on the furniture.

@kethlin,
Thanks for sharing! Nice post. To add up, here are some pointers:

• Use paste wax or liquid wax made specifically for furniture.
• If the top of wood furniture is slightly scratched, apply paste wax or use a felt-tip touch-up pen.

@kethlin,
the main problem with wooden furniture is, if maintanence will not be done after interval of time "termites" might harm your furniture. so keep in mind while polishing your furniture spray some antitermite spray into them . that will help!
