Just recieved this by e-mail from my youngest's school...

This morning at a bus stop, somewhere along the route to school, a student put his tongue on a metal pole. His tongue got stuck. He yanked it off and came to school bleeding and in pain. He was taken to the hospital. He is doing much better now but is still in alot of pain. Please remind your child/children that not thinking something through can be dangerous and may even lead to a medical emergency.
Ouch. (And I'm not certain that this wasn't my kid!?!)
oooooooooooohhhh, I did that once, but I didn't yank/rip my tongue off the pole!

I was egged on by older kids. I drooled on my tongue to unstick it. It was likely a warmer day than today was.

I was reading this when sozlet came up to me and demanded, worriedly, "Why are you making that face??" (It was a rictus of horror, imagining.)
I never did it, knew a kid who did. We ran and got some hot water, poured it over his tongue, he was fine. (Though traumatized.)

me once told me about the time her 4 brothers
bet her that she wouldn't kiss the railroad tracks,
she did and got stuck!! They all ran off and left her
there when they realized the train was coming
