Just recieved this by e-mail from my youngest's school...
Quote:
Goodmorning! Some of you may have seen the fire truck and emergency response team at the (school) as you were dropping off students this morning. I wanted to share with you what happened. This morning at a bus stop, somewhere along the route to school, a student put his tongue on a metal pole. His tongue got stuck. He yanked it off and came to school bleeding and in pain. He was taken to the hospital. He is doing much better now but is still in alot of pain. Please remind your child/children that not thinking something through can be dangerous and may even lead to a medical emergency.
Ouch. (And I'm not certain that this wasn't my kid!?!)
oooooooooooohhhh, I did that once, but I didn't yank/rip my tongue off the pole!

Not entirely - she had enough impulse control not to tear her tongue off
the pole.
What on earth made her do that, and how did she get her tongue unstuck
without ripping it?

hahahahaha....
I was egged on by older kids. I drooled on my tongue to unstick it. It was likely a warmer day than today was.

Ha ha. I think most kids who grew up in the north east have tried this. I know I did! I remember drawing blood!

I was reading this when sozlet came up to me and demanded, worriedly, "Why are you making that face??" (It was a rictus of horror, imagining.)
I never did it, knew a kid who did. We ran and got some hot water, poured it over his tongue, he was fine. (Though traumatized.)

she did and got stuck!! They all ran off and left her
