@spendius,
But, of course, we needn't have a scientific society. We don't have one now. And those pushing us towards one are the very last people to be talking about the degradation of the economic processes.

When they indulge in such a twee mannerism they are running with the hare and hunting with the hounds.

To what extent was Mr King's success due to those economic processes? His voice reached round the world for no other reason than those processes.

I don't know if it is true but I have read that the fruits of the success ran to 5 star hotels, limousines, sharp tailoring and a few young ladies.

Science does not push us in any direction. Human nature turns us to pluses and/or negatives, always has, always will. As before science, as before the first settlements come to be known as civilization. Human nature supersedes science, religion, and all else that we do.

@spendius,
I actually enjoy you're posts Spendi but...Then you could have someone have their own interpretation and not be in full judgement of it.

I agree. It was the point Orwell made in 1984. Which is why I don't recommend the book and emphatically with ladies. But few of us get into the position Winston Smith did. Or that of the survivors of the plane crash in the Andes.

“There comes a point in your life when you realize:

Who matters,
Who never did,
Who won't anymore,
And who always will.

So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.”
