limits on exports? or Limits on Imports? or both?

What era are we talking about here. post WW2?, last 10/20 years?

Back when trade first started in Asia with the spice trade and all. I'm not sure what the limits were but I think it may have been limits on both.

I go to online school and we don't have texts books, I went through the lesson and couldn't find it anywhere. This sucks my paper is due by midnight or I'll get a 20% credit taken off for it being late.

Have you done some research online - besides here I mean? I seem to remember something about China not telling how silk was made for a long time so that they could remain the sole source of the material. But, I can't recall anything else (I'm a middle school teacher).
