44 kids in group 1. 8play the oboe. 1/2 as many are playing the clarinet as the
flute. how many play each instrument?

Welcome to A2K.

44 total kids. 8 oboe players, so there are 36 left. If X children play the flute, then 1/2 X play the clarinet, so 1.5 X = 36. X = 24 flute players. 1/2 X = 12 clarinets.

i.e :for every kid playing the clarinet,2 kids are playing the flute.
