By hand-I'm teaching myself how to use the computer programs.

Check out this guy's blog. He's an editorial cartoonist who works exclusively with computer programs and the like. Very talented and an award winner too. He is in the process of making videos to teach people to use some of the better known programs. I think, if you actually read his stuff, you'll learn something, maybe even a lot of new tricks.

I have a friend who has spent years learning to use those programs, it's pretty neat stuff. He's a good artist. I'm not any good at drawing anything other than mechanical drawings. I found it interesting that the color palate is so different using the computer than the reflected colors of page work.

I have some animation trainng but I want to go into comics.

Yeah, my friend is into the animation side.

I went to school for animation but I decided I'd rather go into comics.
I want to go back to school to get the training I need so I can make my comics.
I want to make comics, and maybe just do animation on the side.

I thought I wanted to do animation, but I'm not really into it. It's a lot more work than comics. I feel I can do a lot more in comics, and I can be just as creative in comics then I can in comics.
IMO, there's too much work involved in making an animated cartoon-I want to focus on making comics and maybe just do animation on the side.
Comics are basically storyboards that aren't being animated.

I can get a lot more done with own comic books. I have a lot of good ideas for comics.

I'm not aware of what kinds of characters are popular in today's market.
I am aware that it's a lot different than it was back in my day.
I'm guessing that the characters are the important thing to get established.

80s and 90s cartoons and comics aren't the same as the stuff they got out now.

Why should your having a preference for one ethnic group over another make you a racist?! We are all one species....brothers....with different cultures, language, ethnic heritage. There are beautiful people in every ethnic group, only sometimes our cultural upbringing and ethnic surroundings prevent us from seeing this....this approach to people is termed prejudiced.
