Hi, Time Travelers? Anybody here from the past? How many from the future?

Time travel has long been an interest of mine. I would dearly love to speak with a time traveler or three. Come on, don't be bashful. How many of you are there? Think you could take me for a spin in your time machine?

Edgar, if you want to read a book about moving through time that will blow your socks off, pick up "Rant" by Chuck Palahniuk

@MontereyJack,
We're all time travelers, forever moving forward, everything we do or say is in an instant consigned to the past.

I like this.

Except that it says this happens in 2027

How do we know time travel wasn't discovered in 1958 (or less likely 1957) and we are currently living in the aftermath?

chai(waiting for the present to instantaneously change when that guy in 1958 is shot)tea

@chai2,
there's a pretty cool book by Ursula K Le Guin called, The Lathe of Heaven, it's not really about time travel, it's about a young man who's dreams change reality, but only he knows about it, after being arrested for using forged prescriptions (he uses strong sedatives to suppress his dreaming) he's sent to a psychiatrist who, at first thinks he's crazy, but when he finds the man is telling the truth he tries to use the man's dreams to control the world, really good read

there was a pretty decent movie adaptation done around 1980 for PBS (a later cable version is not as good)

It matters not when time travel is/was perfected. Assuming it could happen at all, we are almost certain to have been visited in this time period. The 20TH and 21ST Centuries are at the core of all the advances and setbacks modern man will know. At least, until something better comes along.

never really watched the BBC series, but I think the police call box is the TARDIS, which I think is an acronym for something, it's the machine that Dr. Who uses to travel anywhere in time and space, kinda like Superman's telephone booth--what does Superman use to change in now that everyone uses cellphones?
