Stormy:

What happens to the balloon ?

It moves forward, and typically hits me in the back of the head much to the amusement of my children. Cool Laughing

It seems like it would go back in the car with everything else, however Stormy is right; it will actually move forward. When the car accelerates forward, the heavier air will try to move to the back of the car and the lighter than air balloon will be pushed forward. Try it.

Let's say you had a lot of assorted stuff to send by mail and you had a large supply of six and seven cent stamps:

What is the highest postage cost that cannot be paid EXACTLY using only the stamps you have Question

Ok; the stamp question was on the difficult side for a six year old who told it to me. How about a no brainer…

Mark and Rap pay 250$ each to a Try scam. Now I have a total of 500$ in my hand, I go buy a pair of designer jeans which cost me 450$.

I have a touch of regret about leaving the two guys without the bus fare home so I give them back 10$ each.

That means that each man actually paid 240$ instead of the 250$.
240$+240$ = 480$.

I still have 30$ (from the 50$). 480$ + 30$ = 510$.

From whence comes the extra 10 dollars Question

Well...this will give you a clue to how I think - which is in fact completely illogical.

But...if your Try scam had taken from poor Mark and Rap $240 each (you left them the $10 off the top) then you would have $480, so you spent $450 of the $480, which left you $30 - if you gave them each back $10 you would have $10 left over ....

this is why I cannot participate in this - because now I am all confused...I have brief glimpses of why and then it leaves me as I try to write it down. dammit.

Where is my People Magazine?

@mismi,
I thought I would never find this thread again...not that it really matters since the only reason I post is to keep up with Try...honestly, I don't need anything else to make me feel flakey...there are several everyday that remind me... ; )

what am I gonna do without my little smileys?

I spent (in this order) a third of my life to date in the U.S., a sixth of it in Austria, 12 years in France, half the remainder of the time in Hong Kong, and as long in Canada as I spent in Austria.

Where did I spend my fortieth birthday Question

@mismi,
If a statement is true, then the preceding statements are true. So, we must have 10-N >= N which is true up to N=5. The first five statements are true.

@Tryagain,
News of my demise, no matter how welcome, is I fear slightly premature.

Talking of which…

I went to see a doctor. The doctor said, "Whenever you feel the urge to ejaculate, startle yourself" So I went out and bought a starter pistol. When I got home my girlfriend was naked in bed. So we started talking numbers and started at it. When I felt the urge I fired the pistol…

The next day I went back to the doctor and the doctor asked me how it went. I said, "Not to good, I did everything you said, but when I fired my gun my naked neighbor came out of the closet..."

Yo Jove, how are you getting on; extremely well I hope.

BTW Mark; France was absolutely correct.

Miss Mi; thank you for giving this thread the kiss of life, you are just so sweet.

I shall be back later with conundrums of complexity and wonder, collected from soothsayers and mystics down at the quickie mart.

@Tryagain,
Thanks for keepin' the boys happy...

R = 18! / (5! * 1! * 12!) = 111,384
