Bad picture on my Sharp LCD TV

I just got a Sharp LCD TV, and the picture is terrible for the cable TV coax input. DVDs look great, but cable channels are almost all "snowy", meaning the picture is terrible. I did check to make sure it was set on cable input. I am not using a cable box on this TV, but my old smaller Sharp LCD had no problems with a bad picture. Any Ideas?
