I thought it was funny. Knowing people, the "ascent" of man most likely did not happen with the "assent" of many.

the last scene on the filmed series, he was standing outside one of the major death camps of the Nazis, essentially pleading for this to never happen again. quite remarkable scene. I understand the entire series is available on DVD.

I will look for it. I remember that ending.

Another of my favorite series is Kenneth Clark's BBC series, "Civilisation." I have that one on DVD. Somehow I've lost the companion book for it, though. I'd give anything to know where it went.
