The Magic Trackpad is Apple's take on the mouse. But the device is unlikely to wow anyone who has used a Mac laptop.

I wonder if this can be as practical and useful as a drawing tablet digital artists and engineers use to create detailed drawings. I also wonder if Apple has the guts to allow compatibility to PC... I hope so because it's one of the most intriguing computer accessories I have seen in a long time.

I would love to try out practicing creative drawing on this if its possible.

I have a MacBook with that tracking mouse thing and I find it annoying. I use a mouse-mouse instead. In some situations it's useful, like scrolling through pages and pages of things (documents, photos), but it's so sensitive that you often find yourself somewhere else!

It looks too daunting for it to be practical for most computer users - without any buttons.

@tsarstepan,
Just went to the Apple store today and messed around with it. I was underwhelmed.

I think it could have its uses for sure but I prefer a mouse for most purposes.

(I have a new computer!!! Finally!!! I still have to get the thing set UP, but I have one! And a free iPod touch AND a free wireless all-in-one printer/ scanner/ copier too, woo!)

Why the polarization? Can't we just install Linux on all our computers and get along?

@Thomas,
Thomas, just hope the adage "the enemy of my enemy is my ally" doesn't apply to Linux as then the future will hold an uneasy alliance of Macs and PC's fighting side by side against the forces of Geeky Evil Linux!

I don't like that apple version either.

I use a tracker ball.

@tsarstepan,
I love the iTouch technology, and I love track pads. But I also prefer trackball devices to the standard mouse. At home I use a wireless thumb trackball from Logitech. That way I don't have to lean over a desk all the time to work the computer.
