WNYC Radiolab: The New Normal

New Normal?

How do you tell the difference between a sea change and a ripple in the water? Is a peacenik baboon, a man in a dress, or a cuddly fox a sign of things to come? Or just a flukey outlier from the norm? Is there ever really even a norm? In this hour we examine three stories that reframe our sense of normalcy.

Quote:
This my excavation and today is kumran
Everything that happens is from now on
This is pouring rain
This is paralyzed

I keep throwing it down two-hundred at a time
It's hard to find it when you knew it
When your money's gone
And you're drunk as hell

On your back with your racks as the stacks as your load
In the back and the racks and the stacks are your load
In the back with your racks and you're un-stacking your load

I've twisting to the sun I needed to replace
The fountain in the front yard is rusted out
All my love was down
In a frozen ground

There's a black crow sitting across from me; his wiry legs are crossed
And he's dangling my keys he even fakes a toss
Whatever could it be
That has brought me to this loss?

On your back with your racks as the stacks as your load
In the back and the racks and the stacks of your load
In the back with your racks and you're un-stacking your load

This is not the sound of a new man or crispy realization
It's the sound of the unlocking and the lift away
Your love will be
Safe with me

Tsar, waves to Astoria.. and yes.. you're very kind. I'm U2uned in but may be sleeping at 3.30am - stranger things have happened, being an insomniac...Llive stream running may waken me.

Wishing you work. Hope you get to watch the show.

Thanku. Your posts on A2K are very refreshing. Good to see you around.

Thank you for your kind words, Izzie.
I'm going to watch the U2 concert later when its available for streaming, rather then live.

I'm listening to an archived concert right now. Tom Waits (July 2008) concert recorded to a podcast for NPR Live Concerts for All Songs Considered.

I don't know why it took me so long to finally download Waits free and legal (almost 2 and a half hour long) concert but I'm quite glad I did. He's got a great distinctive voice. But then again, its a love or hate type of singing. Not much in between regarding the like spectrum.

If anyone wants to download it, the best way to get it is via the NPR Live Concerts for All Songs Considered section of iTunes.

Or stream it here ... http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=92916923

It's a rare event these days so I'll blindly except it as a brief interlude. Very Happy

I don't know anything about their newest album but the Scissor Sisters do have an insanely catchy pop dance tune in the biggest hit so far ...

Retrodisco is probably the best way to describe their game.
