Should Prostitution Be Legal

According to the Chicago Tribune 44 percent of boys between 16 and 20 have had sex with prostitues. This is asounding, when you consider that the only places where prostitution is legal is rural Nevada. There are only a few hundred women employed in these houses, but there are ten of thousands who operate outside the law and face arrest and abuse from pimps and criminals. @thomascrosthwaite,
prostitution will happen and does happen whether illegal or not. So the real question is what is the safest way for it to occur.

Is it safer for women to linger around dark alleys at night to be picked up by possibly dangerous men than it is for women to stay at a secure bordello with security guards?

What is safer?

Under capitalism every person sells him/her-self and physical prostitution is only a rather more physically-repellant form of the de-humanisation. Sex should happen between those who care for one another (or who feel that the physically-unattractive deserve help and sympathy), so the answer is not to legalise prostitution but to abolish capitalism.
