I think it would be cool to have one of these fish. I will definitely buy one, if they do get released in the United States.

As far as the implications go, I could definitely see some maniac taking one of these fish to a natural colony and trying to get them to breed. The consequences of this are obviously up in the air, but I don’t see how this could drastically affect the population. I agree that these fish would probably just be better targets for predators.

But on the other hand, I think that the fish sold to the market should be sterile. I'm sure that could be engineered in, and it would make for a much more eco friendly genetic pet.
