@edgarblythe,
Saw a whole lot of Gabby Hayes movies, because a good friend of mine treated me to go see movies when we were kids. His parents owned a grocery store and moving company. I was penniless.
I just learned not long ago that he passed away. He still lived in Sacramento where my older brother lives, and I wanted to meet up with him and treat him to dinner on our next visit to Sacramento (where I was born and lived until 17 - except for the war years).

@cicerone imposter,
I always get a kick out of Gabby. Characters like him made a lot of the old films worth seeing.

@edgarblythe,
I agree. It really took us out of our world to another one where the good guys always won. Many were with Roy Rogers who used to be one of my favorite, because he opened up his home to everybody. On one of our family trips down south when our kids were very young, we visited the Roy Rogers museum with Trigger.

Roy Rogers
American Singer
Roy Rogers was an American singer and actor who was one of the most popular Western stars of his era. Known as the "King of the Cowboys", he appeared in over 100 films and numerous radio and television episodes of The Roy Rogers Show. In many of his films and television episodes, he appeared with his wife, Dale Evans; his golden palomino, Trigger; and his German shepherd dog, Bullet. His show was broadcast on radio for nine
years and then on television from 1951 through 1957. His productions usually featured a sidekick, often Pat Brady, Andy Devine, or George "Gabby" Hayes. In his later years, Rogers lent his name
to the franchise chain of Roy Rogers Restaurants.

Happy trails to you!
