Arrest warrant issued for boy, 9, accused of stealing gum Updated: Sunday, January 11 2015, 07:07 PM EST POST FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- An Idaho prosecutor issued an arrest warrant for a 9-year-old boy who failed to show up in court. KHQ-TV reports that the boy from Post Falls is accused of stealing a pack of gum. Police Chief Scott Haug says it's the first time in his 30 years in law enforcement that he's ever seen an arrest warrant for someone that young. Haug says the child missed court because relatives had no way of getting him to the courthouse. Kootenai County prosecutor Barry McHugh says the warrant was issued because the boy twice failed to appear. He says he can't comment further because the case involves someone younger than 18. The child is currently in the Juvenile Detention Center.

BAKER, Nev. - A 132-year-old rifle was the last thing Great Basin National Park officials were expecting to wander across.

There are still a lot of questions around the discovery of a Winchester Model 1873 Rifle recovered by Great Basin National Park archaeologists in November 2014.

The rifle had been "exposed to the sun, wind, snow and rain" and was found leaning against a tree in the park. The stock's wood was cracked and the gun has been extremely weathered. The barrel has rusted to the point of nearly camouflaging it as it tilted against the tree.

Great Basin National Park workers researched the rifle using its serial number. The serial number corresponds to the Cody Firearms Museum in Cody, Wyo. and has a manufacturing date of 1882. But, since the Winchester records don't have who purchased the rifle from the warehouse and where they had it shipped, the complete history of the rifle is still unknown at this time.

720,610 Winchester Model 1873s were manufactured between 1873 and 1916 when production ended. In 1882 alone, over 25,000 were made.
"Winchester Model 1873 rifles hold a prominent place in Western history and lore," Great Basin National Park posted on their Facebook page. "The rifles are referred to as 'the gun that won the West.' Selling for about $50 when they first came out, the rifles reduced in price to $25 in 1882 and were accessible and popular as the 'everyman's' rifle."

The Great Basin staff is still researching and hopes to find out who left the gun and why it was never retrieved.

The park staff also plans to send the rifle to conservators to "stabilize the wood and apply museum conservation techniques."

@tsarstepan,
It doesn't take that long to happen. When I first moved here, I put some big rocks next to a bald cypress tree. I didn't pay attention for a time and then I discovered that a big chunk of coral had been surrounded, all but a tip, by the tree trunk. I still can see that tip. but it would severely damage the tree to dig it out.

A FIVE-year-old boy has been handed an invoice – for missing his friend’s birthday party.

And now his parents claim they have been threatened with the possibility of court action if they don’t stump up the cash.

Derek Nash and his partner, who live in Torpoint, discovered the ‘no show fee’ invoice for £15.95 in their son’s school bag last week.

Mr Nash, a delivery driver, said he “thought it was a joke”.

Hang on, is some asshole actually suing a 5 year old for no show at a party??? I think this might be a warning of the end of the world. I'm getting a tad sick of all the occasions others invite you to, in order to celebrate and gift them.
