My Dad created a program that runs on the old DOS format. However we can't get it to run on anything newer then windows 98. I need it to run in a newer version of windows so we can upgrade or computer system? Do anyone know how to do this or if it's even possible.
Thanks
Nancy

@cjty,
I have simple .bat files in run in Windows XP so I know the functionality is still there. My guess is that some of your Dad's code is no longer supported. I would run each line in a command window to see which ones bomb.

Under the <START> menu, select <Run...>
Type in CMD and Enter. This should bring up a window that looks very familiar to your DOS loving Dad.

@cjty,
What, specifically do you mean by "we can't get it to run"? What happens when you try to run it? Any error messages?

before my brother died, he did all his programming in Octal, I can't make heads or tales of any of it. Do I need to learn Boolean?

@dyslexia,
It could be worse...they could be written in Pick!

I had to learn that in order to maintain the legacy proprietary accounting programs at the title company I worked for. Hardly anyone knows it or uses it anymore.

@Thomas,
It is similar to Unix... The guy who created it was Dick Pick... we had many a good joke on that one too... Wink We sometimes called it the Dick System and it was all Dicked up...
