So Cespy learns how to play the Green Monster, the Sox make some good trades off season and Lester comes back next year ...might work.

As I've been listening to MLB experts Tim ... and Buster Olney, they underscore their opinion that while it could happen they get him back , it's not highly likely that it will happen. Lester's speech about his return possibility was exactly the right thing to say.

Wonder if Yaz will be brought in as his consultant.

Chicken and beer, anyone? It's not lost on me how those 3 pitchers involved a few years ago are now gone - regardless of their contributions afterward. Losing Lester really will hurt.

Lackey, if he stayed, won't cost them that much. However, IMHO, Lackey for many reasons (in and out MLB), he might not be considered a 'high-character' sort of guy.

ESPN just now broadcast they have a cliff-hanger (not SP Lee) about another departure...perhaps ..Red Sawx...could be Lackey's swan song.

Tim Kerkjian announced on ESPN Lucky Lackey is going off to St. Louis Cardinals

Remember the old days when they would hold on to these guys forever whose productivity career went way south? Is there any such thing as a middle ground?! Blame these dynamics on big money/big business and the stranglehold sports agents and the big-time athletes now have on MLB. Of course, owners looking at the out-of-control salary expenses, react immediately and pull the plug.

Been watching Baseball by Ken Burns.
The owners were a deceitful lot of lying thieves.
The luxury tax is a joke. What MLB needs is a salary cap.

I tend to watch and re-watch Ken Burns history shows. That one on baseball was pretty good.
