"ParetoLogic File Cure" is it a scam?

SCAM for sure. TROJAN probably. Tried their scan then it asked me to register to fix the errors. I didn't register, but now my entire computer is run by FileCure. I have lost my system32/run32dll.exe file; every file on my computer that has a dll extension opens directly to FileCure and even the system files that don't have dll extension won't let me open unless I choose: "Open with FileCure" or "Open with Windows". My machine is melting. It's been a total nightmare for months and with my run32dll.exe gone, even if I find the thousands of places it has infected, I cannot get rid of it because my control panel won't work. Ugh!!!! Help!!! What a horror. Sad Sad Sad

what a scam Paretologic is ! Stupidly I paid the £33 and asked for a refund under their 60 day money back policy-no chance. Complain to the Canadian Standards (CSC) which I have just done. Don't be apathetic ! If we all complain people like us may not get our money back but we will present a voice and stop these cowboys ripping anyone else of.

I did NOT intentionally download this program.It nosed its way in when I was trying to open some genealogy files stored on my hard drive.It did not help.
Sometime later it placed an icon on my action bar,and kept telling me that my files needed some organizing.I never used it,and decided to remove the program.
I did a remove action and before it "left" it disabled my network drivers and video drivers.Quite a job to get things up and running again.

This program is venomous and should be avoided at all costs

@janitor,
Thank you everyone for the valuable information. My question is this crap comes up when I need an extention. It LOOKS like windows program, but needless to say it's scam but how do I keep it from blocking and taking over an otherwise legit action?

@Vicki054,
Have you been able to resolve your problem? I'm interested because I have a similar problem. Each time I attempt to download an item from a certain website, I am directed to Parentologic site.

I too at some point must have downloaded ParetoLogic. This was a long, long time ago. I went round and round with them by e-mail and I thought I had gotten rid of it, but ever since then, just ever so often I get this RUNDLL popup
"Error loading C:\Program Files\Common Files\ParetoLogic\UUS2\USS.dll
The specified module could not be found. OK"
All I have to do is click "OK" and it goes away, but it comes up at the most inopportune times. I've looked under the files listed but there is absolutely nothing that even hints at saying ParetoLogic -- and I looked in every file under Common Files. Does anyone have any idea about how to get this to stop popping up? Thanks Texgal55

Downloaded Filecure for whatever reason, then tried getting rid. Had a bad time doing this as there was always a residue, but when I eventually took some advice and got rid my PC is running faster - no 'lockups' etc. Filecure is BAD NEWS!

@Myrrydyn,
I don't mind paying for programs that work either, but what does File Cure actually do that would be worth paying for ?

@drillersmum,
Dont buy I purchased and it failed and now they want to charge me 100.00 to have tech support fix the virus and spyware they said they can't keep up with the new ones coming out, but have specialist that will fix, for all I know they did this for more money.
What kind of antivirus provider are they if they can't fix the problem.!!

Buyers beware.

there responses

Unfortunately, I will not be able to resolve this issue for you as I do not have the capabilities to looked in greater detail of what is happening in your computer. However, if you are interested we provide a remote assistance service where one of our technicians will be able to access your computer and get rid of the virus for you. Please note that a remote assistance does cost money. If you we are not able to resolve your issue within an hour, we would be happy to provide you a full refund.

me
so I have to pay for someone to fix the virus that I got for with the antivirus program that I bought from your company because it apparently failed???

Celeste L.
There are situations when new malicious software is released or existing threats have been modified and, in some cases, cannot be removed immediately from your computer

me
We put the program on to the new computer when was purchased. so there is nothing from a prior.

Celeste L.
To remove a virus from your computer, it will cost $99.97

me WHAT???

Celeste L.
Some viruses that are created these days are unique and have been modified that our program sometimes is not able to detect and removed, therefore, the skill and knowledge of a technician is necessary to remove these viruses

Celeste L.
If you like we are able to add on an extra year of your Anti-Virus PLUS or give you another product for free. But in order for us to remove the virus from your computer, it will cost $99.97. (how stupid does she think I am) if failed already and I want it again

Celeste L.
I'm sorry *** but there is really nothing else that I can do in order to fix your issue as I am not trained technician.

I started having a problem with skype: Fatal error. Cannot load library.dll. Could not find a cure from anyone. Eventually Paretologic came up. It looked good. I was desperate for a cure. I downloaded, laptop got scanned, I paid.... Ran the program. Suddenly I had trojan horses and allsorts which my Antivirus program (Escan) picked up. ( have been running my laptop for nearly 4 years without virus problems). The result was that files got quarantined, renamed and deleted and now my laptop is a mess and I still have not been able to make Skype work. I have lost icons for shortcuts, modem drivers, some freeware programs, startup takes for ever and I have not even tested half the programs on my computer. I dont think that Paretologic works and as far as I am concerned, they are a scam and in my currency I have to multply by 7.

Thanks guys. I was considering getting File cure, thats how I came accross this
site, sounds like the best bit of luck I've had all week. I've ccome accross quite
a few sites that promise free down loads then some were along the line it costs
you. Fortunately I am on Windows 7 and was able to easily able to uninstall
the down load. It seems to me the genuine people offer a free trial period
or a free limited version, wwhicn is fair enough.

the only way i found to remove any unwanted stupid program from your computer is to do a system restore to BEFORE you downloaded the stupid program. if you dont know how to do a system restore, easy, search system restore in your start bar or ring a tech hotline

@drillersmum,
Once you down load the Pareto Logic software it will scan your computer for errors, this is a free service. If errors are detected which stop you from opening certain files because of their " extention " then it's up to you if you want to buy the program that makes it happen. There's nothing wrong with this in my view if the program works. We can't have everything for nothing. At the bottom of the emails Pareto Logic has sent me there is an " unsubscribe " option. Hope this helps.
